Deborah Lippmann's Yellow Brick Road Nail Polish - Lady GAGA Wore it Best!

We may not all be able to show up at our events in an egg, BUT we can show up in style!!! Deborah Lippmann, celebrity manicurist, will be releasing the Yellow Brick Road nail polish that Lady Gaga sported during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Deborah Lippmann's Yellow Brick Road will launch April 15th and will be available for $16 at www.deborahlippmann.com. (Maybe Nordstrom too!)

Of course, I'm loving the bright yellow (it's a gel finish) - I can't wait for it to get warmer out so that I can rock this look...wouldn't this make a statement with a solid black dress!! I can't say I'd embrace the whole "egg" thing, but I definitely would love to make my nail polish my statement piece!

Nail of the Day - China Glaze Ruby Pumps

When I saw this nail polish in the store I had to have it! It's a glittery red just like Dorthy's Ruby Red Slippers in the Wizard of Oz. As you can see, China Glaze's Ruby Pumps is a vibrant bright red with red shimmer throughout. It's super easy to apply and believe it or not, comes off quite easily! It's not like one of those chunky glitter polishes that requires soaking and struggle to remove! I think it's the perfect nail for any girl who love traditional red nail polish, but wants to add a little flare to it.

I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of China Glaze's Ruby Pumps, and Seche Vite as a top coat.

Camilla Belle is All Kinds of Color and We Like It!

I don't know where Camilla Belle is going in this outfit, but I want to go with her! I love this paring of colors together. If someone said to me - an orange jacket, purple blouse, turquoise-green pants, a gold belt and light blue shoes went together, I'd laugh in their face. Then I'd probably point. But WOW! I love this look. Camilla Belle looks chic, fun and totally summer. I wish the rest of world (ahem - beauty industry) would realize bright colors can be chic.

Nail of the Day - Zoya's Harlow (matte)

As many of you know lots of brands have come out with different finishes for their nail polishes, including matte, suede and jelly. Well, Zoya also jumped on the band wagon and created a color called Harlow - a rich deep magenta-purple color with shimmer. It's really a gorgeous color. I decided to try out Zoya's Harlow with it's matte formula to see how it applied and lasted on the nails.

To begin I used Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of Zoya's Harlow and left the polish without a top coat. Remember, the point of the matte effect is prevent shine. Adding a topcoat would only hinder the polish's effect on the nails. The polish looked gorgeous on the nails, applied evenly and easily. The matte formulas dry extremely quickly, so be careful not to apply too much lacquer, or else the polish will clump. My experience overall with the polish is that the matte appearance makes the polish chip must more quickly than a normal shinny lacquer. I only wore the polish for about two days before it began chipping. (This is a common experience I have had with all brands of nail polish, not just Zoya.) Thus, the moral of the story is, if you love the look of matte lacquer, realize that it's not going to be your longest lasting lacquer on your nails. Wear time with normal use is around 2 days for me without chipping.

Rimmel - Eyefull - Eye Glistener/CrayonScintillant - Sticky!!!

I must tell you all, I was pretty excited when I saw these eye glistener crayons in the store and extremely disappointed when I used them.  They are so fun and exciting looking in the packaging and the colors look bright and cheery.  Unfortunately, they are not really true to their packaging.  The blue is a little bit more true to it's packaging than the green.  The colors go on very thin and washed out looking.  The go on very oily and sticky and that's pretty much how they stay.  They would be a good base coat for a powder shadow if they didn't stay sticky.  I left these on for quite a while to see if they would eventually dry but had no luck.  I would not wear this product simply because it felt terrible on.
No recommendations here!

OPI's Pirate of the Caribbean Spring Brights Collection 2011

Disne'ys New Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides movie (there are like 4 of them now or something!) is going to be released this May 2011 and OPI has teamed up with Disney's Pirates of the Caribeean team for it's next Spring 2011 collection. The entire collection is filled with was pretty and somewhat predictable pastels. Ok, we've all seen in some variation before. (I know, I sound bummed, because I am!)

Small Rant: I have to admit, I love pastels, but c'mon. I am ready for some bright colors with something new. I can name like five collections off the top of my head that have marketed pastels this past year - OPI's Shrek Ever After, China Glaze's Up and Away, Essie's French Affair, Sephora's Hello Kitty Nail Polish Collection, and Orly's Sweet Collection. (AND I guarantee you, there are more!)

Ok, moving on. I will admit, I like the Planks A Lot (the purple), Mermaid's Tears (the green) and the Silver Shatter polish concept (OPI's new Silver Shatter is part of this collection) - but that's probably because they are the only colors that speak to me, however I will admit I probably have something extremely similar already in my collection. So, if you didn't partake in any of the collections I listed above, this collection might be exciting for you. But...not going to lie, I was hoping for more!

The Colors in this collection include:
  • Skull & Glossbones - Best light gray ever, no bones about it.
  • Mermaid’s Tears - Few have seen this magical green.
  • Steady as She Rose - This gorgeous pink is your final destination.
  • Planks a Lot - Dive into style with this lustworthy purple!
  • Sparrow Me the Drama - This cool, collected pink means business!
  • Stranger Tides - Explore this uncharted sea of sage.
  • Silver Shatter - A shimmering sea of silver with a two-texture finish.

Wet 'n Wild Coloricon Shadows - Not a Fan!!!

This is my FIRST purchase of a Wet n Wild Product!

I purchased two eye shadow palettes:  248 Lust Desir and 247 Pride Orgueil.  Overall, I liked the variety of colors in the palette and I liked that some had a bit more shimmer to them than others; 3 are matte and 3 are effects shadows. I  have commented before that I prefer palettes that offer more than just one finish, like shimmers only, so this was a plus. The shadows felt nice and creamy to the touch and were definitely true to packaging.  In fact, I would say they were dead on.  The shades were also very easy to blend.

However, I experienced quite a bit of fall out or just overall sloppiness when trying to apply.  The powders were a bit "fly away" for my liking.  I found that when applying they tended to want to drift beyond the area of application.  For example, when applying in the crease of my eye, they tended to want to float outside of the outer corners of my eyes making the application fairly sloppy.  Once I cleaned up the fall out, the colors were nice, but I just tend to expect more from my shadows.  I realize these are not high dollar shadows, but this is the type of shadow that all beginners will start with and it makes it hard to learn to apply make up properly when the application is messy.  I think there are better shadows out there for not much more money.

Be an "Audrey" on Valentines Day with China Glaze's For Audrey Nail Polish

Just in case dressing up like a Glamazon (aka: Wonder Woman) wasn't your idea of a Romantic Valentines Day (I'll admit, I sometimes confuse Valentines Day with Halloween...small error!), then be sure to check out China Glaze's For Audrey nail polish! China's Glaze For Audrey was first released in 2007 and is the classic, chic and iconic Tiffany blue that we all love and covet. So, just in case this Valentines Day you find yourself alone, I recommend whipping out the film Breakfast at Tiffany's, painting your nails with China Glaze's For Audrey and designing your engagement ring on Tiffany's new mobile app for your iPhone! hahahaha. Ok, designing your engagement ring on Tiffany's iPhone app might be a little bit on the dreamy side, but hey...Holly (Audrey's character) was a dreamer - all she wanted was "something" from Tiffany's! So, I say...dream away, people!

To apply this nail polish I used OPI's Original Nail Envy, applied two coats of China Glaze's For Audrey and then used Seche Vite as a top coat! Just lovely, don't you think? If it's chic enough for Audrey, then it's chic enough for me. (pun intended!) hahaha.
