Review: Save Your Money & Don't Get the Kat Von D Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Metal Orchestra

I was really excited to purchase the Kat Von D eye shadow palette! It was regularly $34.00 and Sephora has them on sale now for $18.00! I thought that was a great price and was ready to tell everyone about the great stocking stuffer I purchased.

There were three Kat Von D palette to choose from and I chose the Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Metal Orchestra for it's smokey blue and gray colors. The eye shadow comes with 8 eye shadow colors: First Class, Techno, Thrasher, Dagger, Lucifer, Glock, Razor Gray, and Slayer.

The colors are all beautiful tones of dark blues, varying shades of gray and one black and one white. The eyeshadow is incredibly creamy feeling to the touch even though only one is actually a cream eye shadow, slayer. The shadows have light to medium crystals and are very shimmery when swatched. The palette also comes with two double ended brushes and a nice mirror.

In using the product I have found that some of the colors go on smooth and blend fairly well, however, several of the other colors goes on very blotchy and require a great deal of effort to get them blended. While the colors are absolutely beautiful once blended, this product is definitely not for the novice makeup user. I tried applying the product utilizing various different brushes and none of them seemed to be able to do the trick.

I did like the way the creaminess of the product allowed you to control the color very well, like in the creases of your eye, etc. I just found it difficult to blend once in the crease.

I did like the nice mirror the packaging has, but the brushes are pretty useless as far as using them to apply this product. I think the brushes would be nice for using on eye brows or lip color.

Overall, while I found the colors to be beautiful and really like the packaging, I thought the product was very difficult to blend and because of this, I would not recommend this palette. Maybe I just got a bad palette, but I found this product very disappointing.

Some pretty, some sad...humph!? No wonder it's on sale!
