Drugstore Makeup Tutorial for Summer 2011!

LiveLoveLaughs1209 requested a drugstore makeup tutorial. At first I was like...drugstore? But I own very few drugstore products! However, I took the opportunity to get an education in affordable makeup. My naivete was short lived when the first product I purchased was a total DUD! So buyer's beware - Revlon Cream Shadow Quads are bad news bears! However, I found some really nice drugstore products that I am really starting to love! Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res

Ok, when I first received this lacquer in the nail I was unsure about it. But now that I have put it on my fingers and actually played with it - I am in love! This is my first holographic nail polish and to be honest, I was never completely wooed by their multi-dimensional sparkle. But now that I have one, I now see their appeal. Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res is an amazing color that is a subtle purple with the most amazing holographic effect. In normal light this polish looks light purple, but in the light it's a brighter more vibrant purple. You can see the difference in the polish between the photos taken with a flash and without a flash! I am really loving this effect and this lacquer has inspired me to hop on the holographic trend before it's over!

I applied two coats of OPI Original Nail Envy to my nails, one coat of Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res and Seche Vite as a top coat. Enjoy!

I have been getting a lot of requests for looks with the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I decided to do a quick face of the day using the Urban Decay Naked Palette to achieve a very wearable, yet semi-smokey eye. I think this look is very wearable and pretty easy to achieve. Since this is not a video tutorial, I have added how I applied the color from the Naked Palette on my eye for your convenience. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Milani Gems

I purchased Milani Gems because I really liked Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday, but I couldn't justify the price of the polish in comparison to so many other alternative multi-colored glittered polishes. Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday is $16 per bottle and Milani Gems is $4.00 per bottle. As you can see, Milani Gems is a clear coat filled with multi-colored glitter. I will admit, the glitter is not the smoothest thing on the nails. It requires a thick base coat to keep from feeling scratchy on the fingers. However, the effect of the glitter is really amazing! I found it particularly difficult to photograph Milani Gems because of the glitter's reflective properties.

I applied OPI's Original Nail Envy as a base coat, three coats of Milani Gems, and a super thick coat of Seche Vite. I literally stood steal letting my hands dry hoping not to ruin my awesome glitter nails. I hope you all enjoy!
