LORAC's Time To Shine Eye Shadow Palette

Lorac's Time to Shine Eye Shadow Palette and Multiplex 3D Mascara

So, I'm very much a Lorac fan and think they make some of the best quality eye shadows that I've tried until now.  I really thought that the Time to Shine Palette and the Multiplex 3D Lashes Mascara (travel size) was a steal for $28!!!  Now you gotta remember, I have had nothing but great luck with their shadows so I was pumped about this palette.

There were several things that drew me to this palette:  1) it was a Lorac product, 2) it was light weight (so many palettes are so heavy) and I travel a lot so this is always a plus, 3) it has a fairly nice mirror (another plus for the traveller), 4) it contained 10 fabulous colors, from pastels to darker shades, 5) I got a bonus mini mascara!

Now I obviously didn't purchase this palette for the mascara, but I gotta tell you....its really good!!!

The mascara is a black multiplex 3D lash mini mascara, has a nice curved brush and it definitely lengthens the lashes and separates them quite well.  I did notice a little desire to clump, but the mascara consistency is thin enough that if it tries to clump, you can easily blot the eye lash and the clump melts.  What I noticed most was how quickly my lashes lengthened and it took very little mascara.  I was impressed with the mascara!

Now onto the palette...I didn't get to swatch it in the store as they were all boxed up and I seldom ever purchase items without being able to play with them at the store first :)  But, again, this was a Lorac product and I have had nothing but good luck with Lorac eyeshadows so I thought it was a safe bet.  Well, had I been able to swatch the shadows in the store before purchasing the palette, I probably would not have bought it.  Why?  The pigmentation just isn't what it should be.  With this being said....when applying the shades, what I found was they actually went on very pretty...light, shimmery, but not real pigmented. BUT they have very nice shimmer and almost created a kinda "shadow gloss" on the eye (yes "shadow gloss" is "my" new made up terminology) :)  This is just the best way I can describe it.

Not being totally sold on this shadow, I decided to try it wet and SHAZAM!!! That was the key!  When applied with a wet brush the pigment is drawn out and the colors go on much more pigmented but still give that shimmery glow.  At last, Lorac hadn't totally disappointed me.

Would I buy this again?  Probably not, BUT now that I learned the "wet brush trick" and considering the price for 10 eye shadows and a mini sized mascara....ummm....maybe I would.  This would really depend on my budget.  If price wasn't really a major constraint, I'd say no, if it was, I'd still consider it because you really do get a lot of product for your money.

Glam it up at your Christmas party with LORAC'S Multiplex 3D Gloss!

This is my only 2nd LORAC product and this too radiates "Quality!!!"

Lorac's Multiplex 3D Gloss in the color 3D is a very shimmery, rose bronze with glitter and is loaded with shine! The gloss leaves you with rich, thick and very smooth feel and is absolutely beautiful! The gloss has enough pigment to work well on it's own and looks equally as good worn over lipstick.

It is paraben-free and is infused with antioxidants to help protect and moisturize your lips while wearing it.

Color/Pigments:
It comes in 6 beautiful shimmery colors: Polish (light opalescent pink), Intermix (bronze with pink 3D pearl), Cliche (pink with blue 3D pearl), Untamed (peach with pink 3D pearl) Vivid (pink with gold 3D pearl) and 3D (rose bronze with 3 D glitter - the one pictured in this review

Smokey Brown with Coral Lips

Who said smokey eyes only went with nude lips? I think nude lips are kind of going out of style. I decided to put a twist on the smokey eye with a bright coral lip and some orange cheeks. I hope you all enjoy!!! My alternative choices to a nude lip include a mauve purple, a bright coral, a red or even a light lip gloss!

I'm in Chic Shimmer Heaven! The Lorac's Little Black Palette makes me want to forget my LBD!

You will LOVE LORAC's Little Black Palette!!!!

This is my VERY FIRST LORAC product and I WILL BE BUYING MORE!!!

Sorry, I felt the need to express my love for this palette!

Content:
The Palette comes with four baked eye shadows that are color coordinated browns and bronze tones. The colors are all very beautiful and are some of the silkiest eyeshadows I have ever tried. They scream quality!!! The colors when applied are true to pan color, blend well and have no fall out. If you are looking for more neutral, yet glamorous tones, this is the palette for you. The palette also comes with a sample size of LORAC'Ss Behind the Scenes shadow primer in a nude tone.

Packaging:
The packaging is a sheek, black, shiny, compact palette lined with shimmery gold with a nice mirror and magnetic clasp. The palette is very pretty inside and makes you feel special just holding it! I highly recommend this palette - it's a great value at $32!

Beauty Buys for those New to Makeup

I love makeup. I spend a large chunk of my paycheck on makeup and I am okay with that. But what about those of you who are new to makeup? As a teen, I loved opening my gift from Santa and finding a boat load of makeup and the 1,000 count gift set from Ulta or Sephora! Even though those gift sets were awesome for a teen, they weren't really the best makeup.

Thus, I've decided to come up with my picks for the best makeup gift sets under $50 for this Holiday season. If you're a teen with a wishlist or a parent looking for some affordable makeup that won't break the bank, then check out these palettes. I think they really offer a great bang for the buck and won't make you regret purchasing them.

Let me begin by saying this, I think all of the brands below make amazing products - especially eye shadows! When I was a tween/teen I really loved experimenting with color. I chose these palettes because they had enough color to play, but enough neutrals not to scare away the neighbors!

  • Why The Love?
    • I love the mix of neutrals and colors. BUT check out that green and purple! I want both those colors and I'm a 23-year-old law student! What teen wouldn't want those two colors to slap on and blend away at?
    • I also love the fact that it includes a variety of products, not just eyeshadow or lip products.
    • Finally, I love the packaging! What a fun way to carry around your go-to products! I think it's just amazing.

The Smashbox cream eyeliners are among the best and I love them to this day!

    • I love the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners - I am pretty sure I own like seven of them! They are my favorite eyeliners of all time.
    • I also love the Urban Decay Primer Potion, eyeshadow primer. This stuff really works at eliminating oily lids and keeping your eyeshadow in place! Who wants to do all the hard work if your eyeshadow is just going to flake off throughout the day? Not going to happen with Urban Decay Primer Potion!
