Nail of the Day - Suzi Loves Cowboys!!!

This nail polish makes me hungry. It makes me think of chocolate. Does it make you think of chocolate too? This is OPI's Suzi Loves Cowboys from the new OPI Texas Collection. As you can see, this polish is a creamy dark brown, which reminds me of Easter Sunday and chocolate bunnies - you know the ones that would melt in your hands and cover your fingers in luscious milk chocolate? (Only in Texas does chocolate melt on Easter Sunday, which makes it all the more appropriate that this color is part of OPI's Texas Collection!) I just love this color, but I am not going to lie, it's made me want to lick my fingers like a little kid! hahaha.

I really think this is a fun and very chic color that could be worn by a variety of skin tones and look really pretty. To apply this polish, I applied OPI's Original Nail Envy as a base coat, two coats of OPI's Suzi Loves Cowboys and one coat of Seche Vite as a topcoat. This polish is nearly opaque upon the first application, but as you can see, it can be a bit patchy if not applied evenly! (Notice pinky! Ahhh!)

I hope you all will check this color off because to me it's just delicious and so easy to apply that it's worth every penny!

Nail of the Day - OPI's Austin-tatious Turquoise

Ok, before you say this color looks like a color you'd pull out of a 1/2 off basket at Walmart, think again. I know this color doesn't really look that unique, but it actually is! What? Did I just say a turquoise-blue-green polish was unique? Yes! When I first say this color in the collection, I was like.....ehhh. However, it was named after the city I was born and grew up...and it actually fits the city quite well. (Austin is know for it's live music, it's liberal-hippie ideologies, it's laid back culture and it's technology economy. It attracts thousands of students every year to it's extra-large university where 50,000 students learn and educate themselves each year. It's also known for it's tree-hugging hike and bike trails and home to companies like Whole Foods.) Thus, turquoise is a great color for this nail polish because Austin is a stand out city in Texas, just like this nail polish make you stand out when you wear it. You might not love this nail polish at first glance, but please apply it or go to your local Ulta and swatch it! It's really fantastic! I was amazed at the beautiful green and blue shimmer and it applied like a dream. If you want eclectic and sometimes eccentric nails, then you should check out this color.

I applied Nail Envy as a base coat, then I applied three coats of OPI's Austin-tatious Turquoise and Seche Vite as a top coat. Enjoy!

Another Nail of the Day - OPI's Do You Think I'm Texy?

Ok, so it's taking a very long time for me to upload Mac's Wonder Woman Collection Overview, so I decided to give you another nail of the day. I purchased Do You Think I'm Texy? from the OPI's Texas Collection along with OPI's Don't Mess with OPI and two more shades you will be seeing in the up and coming days. This nail polish is a vibrant red-pink. It's absolutely stunning on the nails and a jelly too! Jelly's as you remember are less opaque than cream finishes, but are really gorgeous on the nails. Some people are not big fans of jellies because they can show the nail line. However, I kind of like the sheer consistency of them and I love their fun vibrant colors!

I applied OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat, two coats of OPI's Do You Think I'm Texy? and Seche Vite as a topcoat. Thoughts? Love or hate?

Nail of the Day - OPI's Don't Mess with OPI and Comparison of OPI's Jade is the New Black

Well, the first of my many orders just arrived and it was the OPI's Texas Collection filled with gorgeous colors! Here is the first of several - OPI's Don't Mess with OPI! What do you think? Isn't it gorgeous? In case its reminiscent of something extremely familiar, then maybe you remember OPI's Hong Kong Collection from last summer in which OPI released Jade is the New Black. Well, just to show you the difference in color, I went ahead and painted my pinky with OPI's Jade is the New Black and the rest of my fingers with OPI's Don't Mess with OPI. What are you thoughts? Are these colors too close to purchase both? I personally notice a difference between the two colors, but I can see how it could be too subtle a difference to be worth the extra $8.50.

I applied OPI's Nail Envy as a base coast, two coats of OPI's Don't Mess with OPI and finally applied Sehce Vite as a topcoat.

Thoughts?

OPI's Texas Collection

Are y'all ready for this? As a Texas native, I couldn't be more excited to see OPI's new collection was Texas themed. Those of you in the 49 other states might not know this, but in Texas we have a lot of PRIDE. Now, let me explain one thing though - we don't ride horses, we all don't all have Texas drawls, and we all weren't raised in barns (despite popular misconception!) However, we are people of our word, we have big hearts and we proud of the State we call home!

I don't usually post information on new nail polish collections, but I was so excited about this one, I just had to give you all heads up. I already pre-ordered several items from this collection, including an item with the name of the city I was born in!!! :) :) :) This collection has everything that I think Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spring 2011 Collection was lacking - COLOR! I don't know about y'all, but I love color! I am excited to see a bold green, a deep chocolate brown, a bright fuschia pink, a turquoise, a bright orange and some fun corals and pinks! How else is a girl gonna get noticed, now? hehehe.

Please note, some of the colors in this collection are jelly finishes. What does that mean? It means that the colors aren't opaque when applied, but give the appearance of a "jelly-like" texture on the nail allowing the natural nail to show through. Jelly's aren't totally sheer, they still have a very nice bold color effect, but they are somewhat see-through and probably different than anything you've tried! If you don't own any Jelly's I highly recommend you try them out with this collection!

To preorder, I recommend M Beauty Lounge! I am not affiliated with this company, but I have had good luck with them in the past! PLEASE NOTE: I have received reliable information that MBeautyLounge has failed to provide the level of customer service or support one would expect from a reliable company. From what I understand, they have failed to send out orders in a timely manner, made false statements as to the issuance of refunds and have not delivered items as promised. I apologize for any of you who have experienced bad customer service with this company. I have never had a poor experience but the overwhelming number of complaints speaks louder than words that MBeautyLounge has some issues and will not longer be getting my money or my recommendation.

The release date for these polishes is February 2011! What are your thoughts? Do you love the brights? I have to admit, although the colors don't look that unique, BUT some of them really stand out to me, like Don't Mess with OPI, Suzi Loves Cowboys, and Do You Think I'm Texy? (Jelly). Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - OPI's Katy Perry's Teenage Dream

Ok, ok, okay. Let me first begin by apologizing for these photos. My camera died and I seem to have "misplaced" (ahem - LOST!) my camera charger! So, sad to say, these photos were taken with my iPhone camera, which Bless Apple, my former employer, is NOT the best camera in the world. So, yessss.

This is Teenage Dream and not the best photos of it, I have to admit. I used OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat and two coats of Teenage Dream, then I applied Seche Vite Top Coat. Now, don't judge this color by these photos. It's quite amazing on the nail. I struggled with how best to photograph it and I hope you all will consider it, despite my awful photography skills.

The first picture is the only photo I could get with my digital camera before it subsequently died. Sadness. I hope this helps a bit.

Nail of the Day - OPI and Katy Perry's Not Like the Movies and Black Shatter!!!

My favorite color from the OPI and Katy Perry Collection is definitely Not Like the Movies - a green, purple, silver type of duo chrome. It's gorgeous! I highly recommend you all check it out because it is the most unique of all the colors, other than Black Shatter.

I applied OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat, three coats of Not Like the Movies (it goes on pretty sheer) and I applied a top coat - Seche Vite. I then applied one coat of Black Shatter and left it matte for you all to see how it dries! Isn't it awesome!? I am just loving this collection!

Nail of the Day - OPI's The One that Got Away and Black Shatter - OPI's Katy Perry Collection

First, let me apply for the sloppy application of these polishes. I was struggling with getting my base polish (The One that Got Away) to apply cleanly and as a result, you will the color looks quite messy. I applied two coats of OPI's Katy Perry Collection - The One That Got Away first with OPI's Nail Envy. I then applied a thick coat OPI's Black Shatter and Seche Vite top coat.

The One That Got Away applies as a deep pink with pink shimmer. In the photos below it looks quite red, when in fact this color is more of a deep pink than red. The Black Shatter polish applies a bit chunky at first. The polish requires quick application because it begins to shatter within seconds of application and becomes clumpy if you continue to apply coats over the wet polish. Black Shatter dries quickly. Black Shatter dries matte and looks quite awesome on the nails. Applying a top coat makes the polish really shine and look absolutely stunning on the nails. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day: OPI's Oh So Glam

The nail of the day today is OPI's Oh So Glam. I was a bit skeptical of this nail polish at first, primarily because I couldn't get it open and everyone who tried to open it couldn't open it either! Finally, I went to the Ulta Store and was like, people, you sold me this nail polish I can't open. One of the sales people tried and was able with very little effort to open it no problem. I was shocked. I had asked male friends, random people on the street, winners of strength competitions and tried myself with all sorts of techniques to open this nail polish...yet, the Ulta Salesperson (who was female!) opened it no problem. My jaw must have hung open when she accomplished the feat with very little effort.

Needless to day, I immediately went home and painted my nails with Oh So Glam. I used OPI's Nail Envy as a basecoat and I painted three coats of Oh So Glam with Seche Vite as a top coat. Enjoy my pearly nails!
