Nail of the Day - OPI Rally Pink and OPI Red Shatter: Serena Williams Set

OPI Rally Pink is a vibrant purple-pink base with gold glitter shot through it. It reminds me a ton of Zoya Faye. However, OPI's Rally Pink is a bit more pink of a base with gold glitter than Zoya's Faye, which is more of a purple base with gold glitter. However, the two nail lacquers are very similar. I've attached a photo of Zoya Faye for you all to view at the bottom of this post (when my nails were less ravaged and longer!)

As for OPI's Red Shatter. I applied a rather sheer coat on the left hand and a thicker coat on my right. As you can see, the sheerer the coat, the less "shatter" you get. I like the OPI Red Shatter more opaque than sheer, like it it is on my right hand, versus on my left. However, I don't really understand OPI Rally Pink and OPI Red Shatter together. They two colors, in  my opinion, don't really go together, so I am a little baffled why they are sold together. In the future, I will do a post with all the OPI Shatter Polishes alone for you to view how they look on the nails in comparison to the China Glaze Crackle polishes. (OPI's Black Shatter, Silver Shatter, Red Shatter, White Shatters (Coming Soon) VERSUS China Glaze Black Mesh, Fault Line, Lightening Bolt, Broken Hearted, Concrete, Crushed Candy.)

To apply these two lacquers, I applied two coats of OPI Nail Envy Matte as a base coat, two coats of OPI Rally Pink, and one coat of OPI Red Shatter. Finally, I added Seche Vite as a top coat on all the nails, including the Shatter Nail. I hope you all enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Rica

If you are planning on sporting the bright coral trend that is invading this summer, then you need to try Zoya's Rica, a bright coral with gold glitter shot through it. I happened to be wearing coral the day I dawned this color and I received so many compliments. This color looks orangey-peachy in the photos, but it's much moral coral than orange or peach and the gold glitter just makes it glow! Zoya Rica is from Zoya's Sunshine Collection and is just a fun bright color for summer.

For application, I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of Zoya Rica and Seche Vite as a topcoat. I wanted to apologize for my lack of nail polish posts lately, I have been in finals the past two weeks and I am a chronic nail picker/biter/observer when I'm stressed! (A very bad habit that takes over me during finals!) Anyway, I will get back to posting when my nails are in better shape or when I have the time to paint them. I apologize for my lack of nail posts, but don't worry I didn't stop loving nail polish, I just am experiencing the stress of my last set of law school finals ever! Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Sooki

Zoya Sooki is a bright true red cream. I was drawn to its name at first because it immediately made me think of True Blood. The main character in the True Blood series is named Sooki and she is in love with a vampire. Yeah, I know...so many vampire shows and movies! Anyway, this color is really gorgeous. I love red nail polish. It really is a classic color and looks so chic on any woman. To apply Zoya Sooki, I applied Seche Base a a base coat, two coats of Zoya Sooki, and Seche Vite as a top coat. What a fun color. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Tanzy

Zoya Tanzy is a fun tangerine colored sparkle lacquer with gold sparkle shot through it. It is one of the many colors in Zoya's Sunshine Collection for Summer 2011 and it sure is a star among the varying shades! I really love this lacquer for summer! It's such a bright, fun and cheery lacquer and the gold sparkle makes it an instant eye catcher! Like all the other Zoya lacquers I've ever used, this one applies evenly and takes only two coats to be completely opaque. I would say this is definitely one of the "must have" lacquers from Zoya's Sunshine Collection along with Zoya Faye and Zoya Reva (swatches coming soon!). So pretty!

To apply this lacquer, I applied Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Zoya Tanzy, and Seche Vite as a top coat! Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Kimmy

Zoya Kimmy is a bright red polish with gold sparkle shot through it from Zoya's Sunshine Collection for the Summer 2011 Collection. This polish is really pretty. I love how vibrant and sparkley it is. It's easy to apply, however to make Zoya Kimmy opaque, I would recommend two coats of lacquer. Although I find this color really shiny and fun for summer, I don't know that I would repurchase it. Compared to the rest of the colors in the Sunshine Collection Zoya Kimmy feels like a just "there" color. I wish I could call it something special, but to me it's a bit too orange of a red to be a spectacular true red. I think there are other colors that spark my interest more, like Zoya Faye and Zoya Reva.

To apply Zoya Kimmy, I applied Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Zoya Kimmy and one coat of Seche Vite. Enjoy!

Ultra Late Nail of the Day - Zoya Keiko

Sorry for the late posting tonight! I have been working on a paper on Two-Factor Authentication and President Obama's Internet Identity Project. Yeah...not really makeup related at all! Booo. This is Zoya Keiko from Zoya's Summertime Collection for Summer 2011. As you can see, it's a bright magenta-purple cream that is soooo opaque! I really love this nail polish. At first I thought it was just "meh" compared to the rest of the collections, but now I am starting to see the appeal of it. It's the perfect feminine magenta-purple. I feel like I am constantly saying this, but once I put it on my nails, I just fall in love with the colors. I try to be as honest as possible with what I think and I have to admit, this lacquer is awesome! I am starting to love Zoya more and more as a brand. They have consistently produced amazing lacquers that are just as nice as some of the high end lacquers I own. All the photos were taken with the flash because the photos were much more true to color when taken with the flash!

To apply this polish, I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of Zoya Keiko, and Seche Vite as a topcoat. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Mira

Zoya Mira is a really pretty purple cream that applies really nicely and is extremely wearable for summer. Zoya Mira is part of Zoya's Summertime Collection and probably not the most unique color Zoya has ever put out, but still fun to wear. However, if you are looking for a fun purple polish, then this one is definitely worth a double take since it is easy to apply, dries quickly and is super opaque with just one application. You all should know that the actual color of this polish is more similar to the photos taken with the flash than the photos taken without the flash. This is a true purple, with not as much of a blue undertone as it appears in the photos without the flash. I applied Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Zoya Mira and Seche Vite as a top coat for this effect. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Lolly

Zoya's Mod Matte Collection is part of it's Summer 2011 Collection. Zoya Lolly is a bright, almost neon, matte lacquer and part of the Zoya Mod Matte Collection. Despite it's matte texture, it does have a bit of a sheen that makes it look soft on the nails. I really like Zoya lacquers in general, however this lacquer required three coats to get even. The lacquer dries extremely quickly and thus when applying a second coat on the nail, I had to be really careful not to pull up the previous coat. I applied Seche Base as a base coat, three coats of Zoya Lolly and no top coat. I wanted to keep the lacquer as matte as a possible and see how it wore throughout the day. Matte lacquers are notoriously bad for lasting power. This polish began to chip at the edge of the nails toward the end of the day after regular wear. Despite the slight chipping, I think it was a lot better than most of my other matte lacquers which include other shades from Zoya and OPI shades. Thus, I would recommend this shade and formulation to many of the others I have tried. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Tamsen

Zoya Tamsen. Zoya's new Summertime Collection for Summer 2011 includes this lovely shade of orange-red called Tamsen. It's a beautiful opaque cream that applies like all Zoya lacquers - smooth and easy. I can't say this color is particularly unique, however if you are missing an orange-red from your collection, I highly recommend this one. At $8 the price won't break the bank and you'll have a lovely polish for your summertime fun. To apply this lacquer I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of Zoya Tamsen and Seche Vite as a top coat. Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Zoya Faye

Stop, drop and roll! I have found another one of my holy grail nail polish colors! OMG. Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance step aside, have you met Zoya's Faye? I love, love, love this nail polish color! Zoya Faye is one of the limited edition colors from Zoya's Sunshine Collection for Summer 2011. How to describe Zoya Faye - it's a purple shimmer shade with gold sparkle shot right through the lacquer for a shade that appears purple on the nails, but gold in the sunlight! AMAZING! I am telling you right now, I might have an entire week tribute to this nail polish! hahaha. Ok, not really. Buy seriously, it's so pretty and applies easily! The only con to this polish is it is a little difficult to remove due to the shimmer! Otherwise...lovely! I applied Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Zoya Faye and Seche Vite a top coat for this result! I cannot even begin to tell you people, this polish is incredible!

Please note - the photos taken with the flash made the polish look a bit more cranberry than it actually is. The photos without the flash are more accurate of what the polish looks like indoors.

Nail of the Day - Zoya Jules

This nail polish has the remarkable ability to look like completely different colors in different lighting. This is Zoya Jules which is an antique gold with gold sparkle shot through it. It's an absolutely lovely color. I am really liking Zoya's new take on "sparkle" nail polish. This polish absolutely glows in the sunlight, yet is a soft and sophisticated color that could be worn by both the young and more mature. This color is opaque after two coats and applies like most Zoya polishes - quick and easy! It's such a lovely color and I highly recommend it for anybody who loves neutrals, but wants something with a little bit of wow. I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of Zoya Jules and one coat of Seche Vite as a top coat. I have indicated below which photos are taken with the flash and without. Enjoy!
