Take a BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE!!!

THIS IS "THE" PERFECT PALETTE TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR!!!!
Urban Decay's Book of Shadows Vol III is EVERYTHING it portrays it self to be....it's filled with glam and glitz from the 16 shades of eye shadows of glitter, shimmer and matte with two 24/7 eye liners!

The palette has a pop up top with the Big Apple pop up landmarks, including the statue of liberty, the empire state building, street corner stores, taxi cars and people!  It lights up when opened and includes a mirror as a backdrop.  It is absolutely adorable!!!  I can only imagine the look at all the young girls out there that received this as a Christmas gift - how fun!!!!

Not only is the palette adorable, but it comes with 16 glittery, shimmery and matte eyeshadows, including 7 new shades.  Each of the shadows is clearly labeled with the eyeshadow color which makes re-purchasing that perfect shade really easy!

The eyeshadow colors are:  Perversion, Uzi, Loaded, Kush, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Last Call, Rockstar, Money, Haight, Maui Wowie, Smog, Bordello, Radium, Snatch, Suspect, Psychedelic Sister.  It also includes Two 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Ransom (purole) and Zero (black) and eyeshadow primer portion (original).

I love the fact that the palette has a black matte shadow and the fact that it is inky black.  All of the colors are really smooth and creamy, however, some are more pigmented than others.  There are some really nice, unique colors like radium, psychadelic sister, haight and loaded.  This palette is clearly meant for nights out on the town rather than the office with all it's shimmer and glitter.

The packaging is really very cute, some of the best I've seen - I love the lights - adorable!  However from a travel perspective, its clunky and would be difficult to travel with but I don't really believe traveling is what was intended when this palette was designed so I'll give it a pass on this account.

I love the sample size primer portion in orginal and the 2 travel size 24/7 eyeliner pencils in ransom (blue) and zero (black).   I could definitely see myself using the eyeliners because I own them in full size and use them all of the time.  The products are not scented which is also a plus!

The mirror is a nice inclusion, but the lid does not really stay open on its own so the mirror is really not that useful on this particular palette.  The palette has a lot of fun eyeshadow colors that blend well and are very wearable and it is sold at an affordable price of $54.00 US.

I've Sinned and I Feel No Guilt!!!!

I purchased Urban Decay's Little Sins Eye Shadow Primer Potion Set!

The Little Sins Eyeshadow Primer Set comes with four mini eyeshadow primer potions: Original (invisible), Greed (shimmering gold), Eden (matte, nude shade) and Sin (shimmering champagne). While each have their own unique finish, they all work well on helping your eyeshadow adhere to your eye and hold its color.

Original goes on clear, Greed which is only sold in this set adds a gold shimmery color to your eyelid which is great worn under bronze tone shadows, Sin is a shimmery mauve color which adds some pink tones to your eyes, and my FAVORITE, Eden which is a very nude color that creates almost a very smooth seal on the eyelid preventing shimmery shadows from falling into the creases of the eyes. Great for more mature women who have found the elasticity of the skin on their eyes to have faded a bit. It helps creates a younger looking eye.

At $29, these mini's are a pretty good deal especially if you want to try them all. Personally, I would rather just add the shimmer to my eye using my shadows, but I found putting the shimmery colors under my shadows created a more intense look. I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference. The Million Dollar Question: If I could only choose one, which would I choose...my favorite, of course, Eden!

Party Teal Dawn!

I wanted to do a fun party makeup. Let's face it, Christmas is almost here, but New Years is just around the corner and it doesn't end there. Most people are off from work and enjoying time with their family and out with their friends. I decided to do a fun party makeup that could work for New Years or just a night on the town with friends! Enjoy!

Easy Eyeliner Trick to Angelina Jolie's Perfect Sultry Eyes

Now, now, now. I know I don't look like Angelina Jolie...the idea I was going for was the heavy liner trick she loves to do. You know, that heavy eyeliner look that makes her eyes look super sultry and sexy. Well, here is a quick and easy way to do it that takes very little effort. I was attempting to recreate her look picture below. However, this eyeliner trick can be re-created with any look. Just try it!

Urban Decay's Black Palette - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

From Right to Left: Black Dog, Barracuda, Jet, Sabbath, Cobra Libertine

What Urban Decay's The Black Palette Comes With
The Black Palette comes with 6 black based eyeshadows: Black Dog (black matte), Barracuda, Jet, Sabbath, Cobra and Libertine, a sample size eye shadow primer potion in a nude color and a travel size 24/7 glide-on eye liner pencil (black - zero), The packaging is a very sleek, shiny black with silver sparkles, a magnetic clasp and mirror.

Each of the shadows are .04 oz and all but the black dog, matte, contain shimmery sparkles.

The Bad and the Ugly:
The colors are beautiful in the palette and very smooth when swatched, but honestly when swatched and when applying most of them are fairly similar in color with the exception of Sabbath (blue) and Jet (purple) and of course the Black Dog (matte black). All the other colors, Barracuda (gray), Cobra (olive green/gold) and Libertine (deep green) go on looking deep gray toned with very little difference in color.

Urban Decay Eden Primer Potion
The nude Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden works about as well as any other primer. I cannot rant or rave about it either way. The 24/7 mini eyeliner is fabulous and I will definitely purchase the eyeliner.

Others Like This Palette for Less
I have read this product is very similar to the Lake Moss Trio from NYX, but I have not tried this product, so I can only go by what I have read from fellow followers.

Mesmerized by the Mac Pearlglides? How about a great dupe available year round?

Laura, our resident nail expert, went to the local Mac counter in our city and swatched the Mac Pearlglide liners. You know, those amazingly beautiful vibrant, creamy last-all-day liners available for only a short time at your Mac counter. Well, Laura then cleverly went to Sephora and swatched the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils had made a surprising discovery! The Urban Decay pencils are almost identical dupes for the Mac Pearlglide Liners...and they are available year round!

NOTE: There is a gap in the liner comparison for Mac's Blackline. Unfortunately, Sephora didn't have Urban Decay's Stash as a test to swatch. Laura suggests layering Urban Decay's Stash over black liner to achieve the same effect of Mac's Blackline. In my opinion, Laura is on the money - this is a great idea if you can't get your hands on the Mac Pearlglides!

Here are some photos of the liners she swatched:
Left row (top to bottom): Korres Olive Green, Korres Blue Petrol 9; Middle row (top to bottom): MAC Pearlglide Lord It Up, Blackline, Petrol Blue, Undercurrent, Black Swan; Right row (top to bottom): Urban Decay Bourbon, Underground, Binge, Covet, Oil Slick. (Also, lipstick on top is Honeylove, lipsticks on bottom are Faeirie Glen top and Cut A Caper bottom).

Jennifer Lopez Makeup as American Idol Judge

I am not a big American Idol fan, but I am not going to lie - now that Jennifer Lopez is on it, I might watch it more! It doesn't hurt that Stephen Tyler from Aerosmith is going to be a judge tooooooo! Anyway, I saw this promotion video for the upcoming episodes and I just had to re-create Jennifer Lopez's amazing makeup! She's always gorgeous and I loved the red lips!

Enjoy!
