Fake It 'Til You Make It Makeup - Universal Makeup for all types of events!

There is a type of makeup that I resort to for any of the following big events in my life: (1) a job interview, (2) meeting my boyfriend's parents, (3) a religious event (i.e., a wedding [not your own], bar mitzvah, baptism, etc.), (4) a first date, and finally, (5) exchanging items after a break up with your now ex-boyfriend. (Because who doesn't want to look lovely, natural, and flawless when meeting the ex to exchange items).

I call this "universal makeup" because it can be worn to any of those events and will always make you look well kept, pretty, nice and natural. I hope you all will find this tutorial helpful! Enjoy!

Smokey Brown with Coral Lips

Who said smokey eyes only went with nude lips? I think nude lips are kind of going out of style. I decided to put a twist on the smokey eye with a bright coral lip and some orange cheeks. I hope you all enjoy!!! My alternative choices to a nude lip include a mauve purple, a bright coral, a red or even a light lip gloss!

It doesn't hurt that Stephen Tyler from Aerosmith is going to be a judge tooooooo! Anyway, I saw this promotion video for the upcoming episodes and I just had to re-create Jennifer Lopez's amazing makeup! She's always gorgeous and I loved the red lips!

Too Faced Friends & Family Sale! 20% Off + Items I Would Buy!!!!

Too Faced Friends & Family Sale is on until November 17th! Enter the CODE 10GIFT for 20% off your purchase!!!!

What I Would Buy:

Too Faced Glamour to Go Fairy Edition - $19.50

Why!?
  • It's compact, includes great colors, a lip gloss, bronzer, plus MIRROR! I love this for touch up's and it's super portable! Totally a must for a girl who wants something low maintenance but chic.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance - $18.00

Why!?
  • Often compared to Urban Decay's Primer Potion, this stuff supposedly really works! I have never used it, but I have been dying to try it. (Remember: Primers keep your eye shadow from creasing and keep your eyeshadow from flaking off throughout the day!)

Too Faced Naked Eye Kit - $35.00
 Why!?
  • It's subtle, pretty and really natural. There is nothing sexier than a girl who is comfortable in her own skin. Neutral eyes can be really gorgeous and always make a girl look well-kept, not overdone!

Beauty Buys for those New to Makeup

I love makeup. I spend a large chunk of my paycheck on makeup and I am okay with that. But what about those of you who are new to makeup? As a teen, I loved opening my gift from Santa and finding a boat load of makeup and the 1,000 count gift set from Ulta or Sephora! Even though those gift sets were awesome for a teen, they weren't really the best makeup.

Thus, I've decided to come up with my picks for the best makeup gift sets under $50 for this Holiday season. If you're a teen with a wishlist or a parent looking for some affordable makeup that won't break the bank, then check out these palettes. I think they really offer a great bang for the buck and won't make you regret purchasing them.

Let me begin by saying this, I think all of the brands below make amazing products - especially eye shadows! When I was a tween/teen I really loved experimenting with color. I chose these palettes because they had enough color to play, but enough neutrals not to scare away the neighbors!

1. Too Faced Enchanted Glamourland Palette, Retails for $49
  • What's in it?
    • 15 eyeshadows
    • 1 blush
    • 1 bronzer
    • 1 lipgloss
    • 1 eyeshadow primer
    • 3 instruction cards (aka: how-to information cards)
  • Why The Love?
    • I love the mix of neutrals and colors. BUT check out that green and purple! I want both those colors and I'm a 23-year-old law student! What teen wouldn't want those two colors to slap on and blend away at?
    • I also love the fact that it includes a variety of products, not just eyeshadow or lip products.
    • Finally, I love the packaging! What a fun way to carry around your go-to products! I think it's just amazing.
2. Lorac Box Office Hit Full Face, Retail $35
  • What's in it?
    • 12 eyeshadows
    • 2 eyeliners
    • 1 bronzer
    • 1 blush
    • 8 lip colors
  • Why the love?
    • Ok, first of all, 8 lip colors! Wow! Not only does this palette have a nice range of neutrals and smoky colors, it would be great for those tween/teens who want to experiment with lip color! I am a huge fan of lipstick and I would have loved, love, loved something like this as a tween/teen to play with!
    • Again, awesome compact packaging is always a plus! I love that this palette includes a mirror and two eyeliners - brown and black for the neutral and the smoky looks.
3. Too Faced Glamour to Go Fairy Edition, Retail $19.50
  • What's in it?
    • 8 eyeshadows
    • 1 lip color
    • 1 bronzer
    • 1 blush
  • Why the love?
    • The portability and affordability of this item make it awesome! I love that it has a nice range of neutral colors that can be easily smoked out! I love that it includes a nice lip color that would work well on almost anyone and a bronzer to warm up light skin tones.
    • I also love that it can fit in my pocket and would be great for touch up's throughout the day or night! The mirror makes it the perfect affordable, portable makeup palette!
4. Tarte The Royal Collection, Retail $43
  • What's in it?
    • 16 eyeshadows
    • 1 face primer
    • 1 mascara
    • 1 lipgloss
  • Why the love?
    • Hello gorgeous eyeshadow colors! I have swatched this palette time and time again and I have had it in my hand at the check out counter a few times, but I have never purchased it! Why!? I don't know. :( This palette is beautiful! It has a great range of colors all in full size, all creamy and blendable! A great blue, a beautiful purple, a soft lilac and tons of neutrals!
    • I also love that this palette is totally portable and includes a mirror! I cannot rave enough about the eyeshadows! They are awesome!
    • Finally, I love Tarte as a brand! They make really nice quality products that are always top notch. This is definitely my favorite palette on the list!
5. Tarte Maureen's Favorites Exclusive Value Set, Retail $39
  • What's in it?
    • 1 eyeshadow
    • 1 cheek stain (aka: blush)
    • 1 bonzer
    • 1 lip stain (aka: lip product)
    • 1 mascara
    • 1 flower pin
  • Why the Love?
    • Nothing in this palette will scare away the neighbors! Everything is totally wearable and good for your tween/teen's skin!
    • I love Tarte Cosmetics in general. They make fantastic products that make you feel beautiful without harming your skin or body. (I'm all for the good-for-you products!)
    • This gift set is extremely diverse! It's not just exclusively eyeshadows, lipsticks or bronzers, it's a variety of products your tween/teen will actually use and love.
6. Smashbox Eye Wish Palette, $45
  • What in it?
    • 12 eyeshadows
    • 4 cream eyeliners
    • 1 eyeshadow primer
    • 1 mini mascara
  • Why the Love?
    • Again, as a tween/teen I loved colorful eyeshadow. This palette has a great range of colors - including a vibrant purple, a fun turquoise-blue, a pretty green, a deep blue, and a lot of wearable neutrals. I also love that it includes eyeliners! The Smashbox cream eyeliners are among the best and I love them to this day!
    • I love that everything fits in the compact gold packaging and I love the variety of products. PLUS, it includes a mirror! Super handy for travel this holiday season!

For the mom that loves to splurge, I highly recommend Urban Decay's Book of Shadows Volume III, Retail $54
  • What's in it?
    • 16 eyeshadows
    • 2 eyeliners
    • 1 eyeshadow primer
  • Why the love?
    •  Eyeshadow Nirvana! This palette is gorgeous! The colors are vibrant, bold and smooth. The bright colors are just as vivid as they look in the pan and the neutrals are always fun and never dull! If you have a tween/teen who loves color, this is the palette for him/her! The blues, purples and greens are exquisite! AND the neutrals are just as mouthwatering!
    • I love, love, love, love, love Urban Decay! They make great products that are always top notch. The eyeshadows in this palette are creamy, smooth, blendable, and soft.
    • I love the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners - I am pretty sure I own like seven of them! They are my favorite eyeliners of all time.
    • I also love the Urban Decay Primer Potion, eyeshadow primer. This stuff really works at eliminating oily lids and keeping your eyeshadow in place! Who wants to do all the hard work if your eyeshadow is just going to flake off throughout the day? Not going to happen with Urban Decay Primer Potion!

By the way, I know it's a little early to shop for the Holidays, but Beauty.com is having a 20% off sale. If you aren't willing to spend $50, maybe $40 is more your style? Or how about get $30 worth of makeup for $24? Pretty nice deal! :)
