Kim Kardashian Inspired Face of the Day

I went to my school's annual Barrister's Ball this last Friday. This was my first Barrister's Ball and sadly my last. It was held at my city's very large aquarium which made for a lovely evening dancing among sharks, beluga whales and sting rays! Despite the famous nautical backdrop, there was no theme to the festivity so I decided to re-wear my blue dress from the Masquerade Ball I attended a few months ago. Instead of applying the same deep blue smokey eye I featured in my "Masquerade Makeup" Tutorial, I decided to go with something a bit more fun. I opted for an inspired look by Kim Kardashian. I wanted my makeup to be fun and playful since I planned on curling my hair into beachy spirals. I added a bit of purple to the eye to pull in the color of my navy dress. Below are photos of my completed look and the inspiration photo. I hope you all enjoy!

Face of the Day - Soft Neutrals with Mac Pigments

I have been requests for more neutral looks. This is a neural look using Mac Pigments. I wanted to make the skin look soft and glowing, but still natural. I decided against using a highlight because I thought it would make the skin look too shiny. Instead I really played up my skin with Nars Sheer Glow and then I applied a soft cheek color with a natural lips to compliment my brown neutral eye. I think the complete look is very soft, neutral and would compliment a wide variety of skin tones. I highly recommend Mac Naked Pigment if you do not already own it. It's amazing! You will put it on your eyes and say..."WOW, why haven't I owned this yet?" Yeah, it's that amazing! Enjoy!

Review: Brow Express Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Palette

This is by far one of my favorite eyebrow palettes I have ever used! It comes in Blonde or a Brunette Palette

The palette comes with 5 eyebrow high quality plastic stencils to use when applying the eyebrow powder, including the following: high arch, full arch, petite arch, medium arch and slim high arch. While I have to be honest, I have never really used the arch templates; I can see how they might be helpful to a novice.

The palette I purchased comes with two brunette powders, brunette 1 (dark brown) and brunette 2 (a taupe brown), a highlighter cream to use just below the eyebrow and wax cream which works fabulously for holding your newly shaped eye brow shape and color in place.

I love this palette becomes it is the first eye brow kit that I have found that allows me to create a very natural eye brow look without making the eye brows appear drawn on. In addition, I find the brunette 2 color (a taupe brown) to be a very natural looking color for those who really do not have dark brown eye brows, nor light brown. It’s a perfect color for those of us who have the “in between” brown color eyebrows. I found this product over a year ago and have used nothing but it since and have turned on several of my friends to it. It’s especially nice for the more maturing woman to whose eyebrows have thinned with age. Lastly, the product lasts all day!!!

Excellent product, easy to travel with, lasts a long time!!! I love it and will continue to buy it as long as it’s made.

Beauty Report Card:

Pigmentation in Packaging vs. Pigmentation on Skin:
A+
Color in packaging is identical to the actual application on the eyebrow.

Stay-On Power: A
Stays on all day, but does look better if refreshed mid-day

Finish:
A+
Very natural, even look

Application:
A+
Easy to apply and covers evenly throughout eye brows

Packaging: A-
Thin, sleek packaging with magnetic clasps ensuring palette does not accidentally pop open makes it very easy to travel with or toss in a purse for touch up later. There is no way to prevent the fallout from the powder to keep from getting mixed into the eyebrow wax and highlighter.
Overall Rating: A

Mature Makeup with Tarte Royal Collection

My mom was brave enough to let me do her makeup. With a more mature skin, it's important to avoid super shimmery colors on the eyes. In general, I've discovery more matte and satin finish shadows look better on the eye than shadows with too much shimmer. My mom was a great sport and participated all the way through! Enjoy!

What you will learn in this tutorial:
  • How to apply makeup to more mature skin
  • How to shape misshapen eyebrows.
