Face of the Day - The Brighter the Better

What kind of a person would I be if I said I loved bright colors but I never showed you any of my favorite bright colors? Well, I hope I have achieved my goal with this look. I was inspired by all of my favorite bright colors in my collection. I know this isn't a particularly wearable look, however I thought it was really fun. I used an array of colors from orange to turquoise to purple to pink. I really wanted to hit the 80's on the head with my lipstick and blush while still bringing a bit of mystery and fun to the eyes. I hope you all enjoy! Happy Sunday!

Nail of the Day - Deborah Lippmann's Superstar

The minute my exam was over I headed to Nordstrom for some retail rehabilitation! It just happened to be the same day as the Spring Fashion Event at Nordstrom and my Nordstroms was buzzing with customers all in line to get their makeup and nails neatly manicured! I was lucky enough to steal the attention of a nice sales person for Deborah Lippmann who showed me tons of amazing colors from her collection. However, almost every single polish I picked out for my nails was sold out! Finally, after lots of searching the salesman gave me Deborah Lippmann's Superstar for free!!!! He said he felt so bad that every polish I chose was sold out. He told me if I purchased one of other lacquer, he'd give me Deborah Lippmann's Superstar (the only one left in the store and the tester!) for free! At first I was like...the tester? But then he explained, "oh, I just opened this one this morning and I am the only one who has used it all day - I've probably swatched it four times today. I realized he was basically giving me a FREE brand new polish! I decided, free was better than paying for it! I jumped on it and purchased Deborah Lippman's Razzle Dazzle and received Superstar for free!!!!

By the way, I am so in love with Deborah Lippmann's nail lacquers. They are soooooooooooo beautiful. This one nearly took my breath away when I got it home and painted my nails! It's so unique and like no other polish on the market. I am definitely in heaven! To apply this lovely lacquer, I put down OPI's Nail Envy and then one coat of Deborah Lippmann's Superstar. Yes, it only took ONE coat!!! Ahhhh. Finally, I applied Seche Vite as a topcoat. Pretty spectacular, huh? I feel like a SUPERSTAR! :)

On-the-Spot Acne Treatment - It REALLY Works!!!

Neutrogena's
On-the-Spot Acne Treatment

This is not meant to sound like an advertisement at all so please don't take it to mean this, I have just been using this product for years and it definitely works for me, so I thought I'd share.  I do not get paid to say this stuff :)

I have suffered with acne for years and have tried EVERYTHING!!!

I found this "On-the-Spot" Acne Treatment by accident really or you could say just out of desperation.  I have never been someone whose face breaks out everywhere but more just a breakout spot here or there but pretty consistent. I saw this on the drugstore shelf one day and out of sheer desperation just decided to try it...no one told me about it and after trying it, I was furious that NO ONE had said anything to me about it  before, because...IT WORKS!!!

When I have a breakout, I just dab a little of this on in the morning before or even after applying my makeup (probably better to do it before applying the make up :), rub it in a little and i'm on my way.  Then after a long day, I wash my make up off, towel dry and then dab a little more on before I go to bed.  Make sure it dries before laying down :).  The directions state you can apply it 2-3 times per day and of course, they recommend using it on freshly cleaned skin. :)

I'm telling you...most blemishes will be gone in a day or two, depending on how large they were.  Better to dab this on as you see one starting to form.

I've read a lot of reviews about it to see if it really is this good or if it's just me and most of the reviews are in agreement with me. I have read a lot of reviews about it being really expensive and I would agree if I were spreading this all over my face, but honestly, its not really designed for that, thus the "On-the-Spot"name.  In my experience, it only takes a very small dab of this product to cover a spot, so if used this way, it actually lasts quite a while.

Now this isn't a MIRACLE by any means, but for those of us who struggle with breakouts, it sure will feel like one!  I swear by this and everyone I have introduced this to, thanks me.

Try it, you won't regret it!

Mac Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush Swatches

I went by the Mac Counter today since I knew my Mac purchase from the Mac Jeanius Collection wouldn't arrive yet and looked at the new Mac Cremeblend blushes. I purchased the Mac Cremeblend blush released with the Mac in Lillyland Collection last Spring called Joie de Vie, so I was familiar with the texture and application of the Cremeblend blushes. I swatched all the blushes and I was really stuck between Mac Cremeblend Blush in Posey (a brighter coral-pink blush) and Mac Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush (a more subtle peachy-coral blush). I decided that I had plenty of bright coral-pink blushes and that my collection needed a few more subtle peaches. I have swatched and applied Mac Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush for you. I have to admit, I never owned any of Mac's other cream blushes so I cannot honestly compare the formula of the old ones with the new ones. However, I really like the application of the few Mac Cremeblend blushes that I do own. I find them easy to apply, very creamy, easy to blend and I have found they stay on really nicely throughout the day.

Enjoy!

Face of the Day - Soft Neutrals with Mac Pigments

I have been requests for more neutral looks. This is a neural look using Mac Pigments. I wanted to make the skin look soft and glowing, but still natural. I decided against using a highlight because I thought it would make the skin look too shiny. Instead I really played up my skin with Nars Sheer Glow and then I applied a soft cheek color with a natural lips to compliment my brown neutral eye. I think the complete look is very soft, neutral and would compliment a wide variety of skin tones. I highly recommend Mac Naked Pigment if you do not already own it. It's amazing! You will put it on your eyes and say..."WOW, why haven't I owned this yet?" Yeah, it's that amazing! Enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res

Ok, when I first received this lacquer in the nail I was unsure about it. But now that I have put it on my fingers and actually played with it - I am in love! This is my first holographic nail polish and to be honest, I was never completely wooed by their multi-dimensional sparkle. But now that I have one, I now see their appeal. Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res is an amazing color that is a subtle purple with the most amazing holographic effect. In normal light this polish looks light purple, but in the light it's a brighter more vibrant purple. You can see the difference in the polish between the photos taken with a flash and without a flash! I am really loving this effect and this lacquer has inspired me to hop on the holographic trend before it's over!

I applied two coats of OPI Original Nail Envy to my nails, one coat of Seche Base as a basecoat, two coats of Milani 3D Holographic #514 Hi-Res and Seche Vite as a top coat. Enjoy!

Face of the Day - Muted Colorful Eyes with Bright Lips

I wanted to do a look incorporating muted turquoise greens, grays and purples, however I didn't want the look to look clownish. I decided on this look because I thought the lips would bring some brightness while the eyes remained subtle and muted enough to be wearable. The trick to keeping your eyes simple is to use brown eyeliner instead of black eyeliner. It really helps to keep the eyes soft wand pretty. I hope you all enjoy!

Nail of the Day - Reverse Statement Nail with China Glaze Crackle Polish

I applied China Glaze For Audrey and decided to keep it on my nails however I also decided to make my nails a little bit more exciting by adding China Glaze Cracked Concrete. When I applied my nail polish I applied one too many coats of polish to my pointer finger and decided to take the opportunity to make my nails really stand out. I decided to re-paint my pointer finger with OPI's Suzi Skis the Pyrenees (Suede Finish) and then paint over that China Glaze Crushed Candy. I had to apply a top coat to OPI's Suzi Skis the Pyrenees because China Glaze Crackle Glaze doesn't crack without a smooth surface. The result was pretty cool and I wanted to show you all!

I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of China Glaze For Audrey, Seche Vite as a top coat and one coat of China Glaze Cracked Concrete. For my pointer finger I applied Seche Base as a base coat, two coats of OPI Suzi Skiis the Pyrenees, Seche Vite as a top coat, and then I applied China Glaze Crushed Candy. Enjoy!
